I love God and I love the way He loves me. Sometimes He loves me big—you know those over-the-top, mind-blowing, part-the-Red Sea kinds of ways. But I’m especially fond of the ways He loves me small. Not that His love is small, but the way […]
Month: August 2018
I’m not a country music fan but I have season tickets to the Country Music Hall of Fame. I’ve been wooed across the state line twice in 5 months to wander the halls with fans from around the globe. In case you’re wondering what would […]
Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. Psalm 55:22 NASB
The past month was filled to overflowing. I’ve been neck deep in July and end of summer break stuff so it’s taken me a week to get this post finished. We’ve celebrated and said our goodbyes, partied and planned for the busy days ahead, felt the weight of disappointment and the weightlessness of casting it all upon the Lord.
We’ve turned the page on a new month already but it’s always fun to look back and remember the good stuff!

We had ants in the kitchen this month! The Mr. tried spraying something out of a can that smelled awful and didn’t work. I’d read that Peppermint Essential Oil is an ant repellent, so after cleaning the kitchen one night I added a few drops to a cotton ball and rubbed it on the areas where the ants were hanging out. The next morning there were NO ANTS! (I then cleaned the countertops where I’d wiped the Peppermint Oil.) A few stragglers showed up later, so I added 2-3 drops to a few cotton balls and placed them on the counter behind the sink. The Peppermint makes the kitchen smell amazing and gets rid of ants! I use this Peppermint Essential Oil.

- Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World by Bob Goff; Eric read this book before me and loved it. I’m loving it, too.
3. Learning (AKA: Stuff I Google)
We see lots of turkeys (and baby turkeys) where we live and I’m always saying, “Aw, look at all the baby turkeys.” Did you know a baby turkey is called a poult or a chick?
I’m loving Lauren Daigle’s new song: You Say
I love this, too: Steven Sharp Nelson–Grace: A Sacred Cello Collection Click here to listen.
Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos at The Levee, Northport, Alabama (Fun lunch with my sister!)
Ribeye steak cooked at home in an iron skillet by the Mr. ( You’ll need this easy homemade marinade): The Best Steak Marinade in Existence
I took my daughter to Nashville (her birthplace) and Franklin, Tennessee for some “girl time”. Still working on that post but let me say this: I don’t love country music but I have season passes to the Country Music Hall of Fame and I’ve already been twice this year and LOVED it! So much fun!!
Homemade Febreeze: To an empty spray bottle add 1/4 cup of Downey Unstopables scent booster beads (your favorite brand/scent), add 2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, and fill with hot water. Shake and wait a few hours for beads to dissolve. This smells better than Febreeze and is much cheaper!

9. Health and Beautifying
I’m trying to be more intentional about drinking more water and less soda.
How much water should I drink a day? 8 glasses a day? That’s what I’ve always heard. I read recently to get a more accurate amount of how much water I should drink a day I should multiply my weight by 2/3 (67%). That’s a lot of water! I’ll let you know how it goes.
The moment it dawned on me that both of my two youngest kids were going on the youth trip as CHAPERONES! I don’t remember giving them permission to do that!!
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you’ve enjoyed the good stuff!
