Hangin’ Out

A few days ago I looked out my window and saw these kids just hangin’ out. I stood there, hiding behind the curtain so they couldn’t see me, watching them do nothing.  I’m usually not a fan of doing nothing but this kind of doing nothing is the exception. I could hear them laughing and talking. There were no worries about high gas prices, the presidential election, or how to pay for college. They were living in the moment with each other.

Days like these are numbered.  Two of them (Molly and Jon Eric) will be graduating and moving on soon. New seasons are ahead and I’ll embrace them but I had to snap this photo because with new seasons and new years I’ll be the one to forget. I’ll be the one working hard to live in the moment. But I know from my own childhood memories that these are the times they will remember. Days spent doing nothing really.

Just hangin’ out.
