I love dogs.

I’ve always had a dog. (Except when we lived in a tiny apartment in New Orleans. )

My dogs live outside where dogs are free to run and play and sleep and poop.

Dogs are happy outside.

I said I’d never have a dog in the house.

Never.

Never ever.

Then this dog got old.

He’s a black Lab that we rescued in 2004.

His name is B.J.

He’s “Bo, Jr.”—named after our beloved black Lab, Bo. Here’s a photo of Bo and Maddie. We were so sad when Bo died.

Then B.J. found us.

He was happy outside. He liked to run and play.

But now he’s old and afraid of thunder.

And those eyes.

I said never I’d never have a dog in the house.

Oh well.

There’s a dog in the house now.

He’s a good dog.

The dog’s happy.

The dog’s people are happy.

Is Agnes the Cat happy?

Probably not.

Because there’s a dog in the house now.

Do you have a dog in the house?

  1. We have 2 dogs in the house. They are our first and were both adopted. One is a miniature dachshund and the other is a Bernese Mountain mix (he is scared of thunder too)…but both have been great!

  2. Perhaps one of my favorite posts!! I have THREE dogs in my house ~ one of them being an “old” dog with bad knees and a gray muzzle. And a cat who thinks she is a dog. And I love a man who has two more dogs and there will come a day in the near future when we are the furry Brady bunch only we will have “Foster” (his last name) children with fur. Thanks for your posts friend. Some day we WILL rock on a porch and chat!! Blessings and joy to you and yours!!

    1. Good to hear from you! The furry Brady bunch—that’s funny. And when that “day in the near future” comes I’d love to hear about it.

    1. Aw, I love your little dog, Deedee. He probably wouldn’t be too happy with a cat in the house!
